About the Role:

The Safety Manager plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment within construction and industrial settings in Pasadena, TX. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining comprehensive safety management systems that align with regulatory standards and company policies. The Safety Representative leads accident investigations to identify root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence. They actively promote occupational health and industrial safety practices through continuous safety training and behavior-based safety programs. Ultimately, this role aims to minimize workplace hazards, reduce incidents, and foster a culture of safety awareness among all employees and contractors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in construction safety and industrial safety environments.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Experience conducting accident investigations and implementing safety management systems.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively deliver training and safety information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).
  • Experience with behavior-based safety programs and occupational health initiatives.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal safety regulations specific to Texas.
  • Previous experience working in a petrochemical or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and reporting tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Lead thorough accident and incident investigations, documenting findings and recommending corrective measures.
  • Develop, implement, and update safety management systems and protocols tailored to the specific needs of construction and industrial operations.
  • Deliver safety training sessions and workshops to educate employees and contractors on best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with management and site personnel to promote behavior-based safety initiatives and continuous improvement in safety performance.

Skills:

The required skills such as Construction Safety and Industrial Safety are applied daily to assess and mitigate risks on-site, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Accident Investigation skills enable the Safety Representative to analyze incidents thoroughly and develop effective prevention strategies. Safety Management Systems knowledge is essential for creating structured safety protocols and maintaining regulatory compliance. Occupational Health expertise supports the promotion of employee well-being and the implementation of health-focused safety measures. Additionally, Safety Training and Behavior Based Safety skills are utilized to engage the workforce, fostering a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement in workplace safety practices.
