Job Description

Seeking an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher for a K-12 setting in Carencro, LA. This contract position spans the full academic school year and involves working with students across elementary, middle, and high school levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement adaptive physical education programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities
• Assess students physical abilities and create individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote motor skills, physical fitness, and social interaction
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents to support student progress and ensure program alignment with educational goals
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and modify activities to accommodate changing needs
• Provide a safe and inclusive environment encouraging participation and growth in physical activity

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid teaching certification or licensure in Adaptive Physical Education or related field
• Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting
• Strong knowledge of adaptive physical education methodologies and relevant state regulations
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with educators, families, and support staff
• Ability to motivate and engage students with varied physical abilities
